Homes With Pets

Will my dog or cat be forced to stay in the laundry room when I arm my burglar alarm system?

Not unless you want them to.  Most motion detectors are Passive Infra-Red detectors, or PIR for short.  Passive, because they do not emit anything, and infrared, because they detect infrared radiation (in this case, body heat).  Specialized detectors have been developed to reject the heat signature of pets, of up to 100 lbs.  These detectors are known as pet immune detectors.

In addition to pet immune detectors, flex sensors can be utilized underneath the floor.  People walking in a house normally cause the beams below to flex, and sensors can be installed to detect this flexing.  These devices can be adjusted to ignore the weight of small dogs and cats.

We can design a system that will work in your home environment.
